Overview
A two-day Unreal Engine training programme delivered at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice.

Teaching in the room the work will happen in
The training ran in the academy's own studio rather than a computer lab, which changes what can be taught. The lighting grid, the green screen and the camera slider in the photograph are the same tools the participants reach for afterwards, so the engine can be introduced as one part of a working set-up instead of an application in isolation.

The scene on the screens is a stage rig - a truss with fixtures over a podium. Starting from something the room already contains means the first thing anyone builds in the engine is a thing they can look up and see.
Teaching artists, not engineers
Training an art academy is a different job from training a broadcast team. The participants arrive with strong visual judgement and no reason to care about draw calls - so the engine has to be introduced as a tool that serves what they already know how to do, rather than as a technical subject in its own right.
